Frequently Asked Questions
All animals! Horses, pigs, goats and camelids all love the pellets. Dogs and cats love the tincture. Although, the tincture can be given to any animal. It really just depends on what is easier for you and them. You can find our products here.
Yes! Mikko’s Choice has many pig customers . Our pig customers report it helps their pigs with arthritis. As with all animals, the dose a pig gets is dependent on the individual pig–not their weight. For more information, read this blog.
A good starting dose is 2 scoops. This provides 100 mg of CBD. Start with 2 scoops once a day and see how your animal responds. You can increase the number of scoops a day as needed. Keep at room temperature and away from heat and humidity to maintain freshness. If you have questions please feel free to email us: info@mikkoschoice.com
Every animal is an individual and therefore dosing may take some experimenting. It is similar to drinking alcohol--some people can only have 1 drink while others can have many more. As a general guideline we suggest starting any animal with 2 scoops of the pellets and a half to one dropper of the tincture once a day. From there you can increase or decrease the dose as needed–either in amount given or from once a day to twice–or both! For more information and individual help, please email info@mikkoschoice.com. You can also read this blog.
We get it–There are so many to choose from! Mikko’s Choice stands out due to our high potency formulations. A 3lb bag of pellets has 9,600 mg of CBD in it and the 1lb bag has 3,200 mg of CBD, which breaks down to 100 mg per two scoops of each size. The All Animals Tincture has 5,000 mg of CBD in it, which breaks down to 83 mg per dropper or 41.5 mg per half dropper. Additionally, our products are highly concentrated. This means, you can give less product while still giving more CBD per dose than our competitors. This allows for more bang for your buck and an increased chance of the CBD helping your pet!
There are a lot of unfounded claims out there that phytocannabinoids and specifically CBD help with “everything.” That is simply too broad to be accurate. Early research and anecdotal stories suggest these pellets may help with the following: equine pain, stiffness, swelling and anxiety . They are not intended to diagnose, treat or cure anything specific. We will be sure to send out updates of new research as it becomes available.
Unfortunately, no! Current laws don’t allow for the export of CBD products outside of the USA.
Yes, CBD is a phytocannabinoid! Phytocannabinoid is a fancy word for the natural compounds that make up the hemp plant. Each individual compound is known as a cannabinoid. There are many of them, but the well-known ones are CBD and THC.

THC is a compound that creates psychoactive effects—otherwise known as a high. Any product made from hemp should have 0.03% THC or less. Mikko’s Choice abides by that percentage and shares test results with you so you can see that as well. When animals ingest THC they don’t understand what is happening to them. Unlike a person who seeks that feeling out, animals tend to get extremely stressed after ingesting large amounts of THC. So, it is safer for them not to have it.
Think of Hemp and Cannabis as two different breeds from the same species. They are related-similar and yet different. Hemp typically contains lesser concentrations of CBD and THC. It is sought after due to favorable laws as hemp was recently legalized by the American Federal Government. This means you can purchase hemp products online and at participating retail outlets. Cannabis has much higher concentrations of CBD and THC. Because of this it has yet to be legalized by the Federal Government. However, individual states have varying laws allowing its use. In states where it is legal it can only be purchased at appropriately licensed dispensaries or through licensed delivery services.
Many CBD products in the marketplace are made using CBD isolate, which excludes some of the beneficial compounds naturally found in the whole hemp plant. CBD can also be extracted using harsh chemicals and solvents, which linger in the product. Our pellets are made from the actual plant, meaning they contain a combination of cannabinoids, terpenes and other beneficial compounds that occur naturally, giving your pet a more well-rounded product.
The All Animals tincture is one of the strongest tinctures you will find on the market. Most of our competitors offer formulations that are not potent enough–this could be why you’ve used them and didn’t see a result or it sort of helped, but not really. Our formulation ensures we can find a dose that will work for your pet, both high and low doses, without needing to give them the whole bottle. There is also a chart on the tincture product page for you to compare to other brands. Please send us an email with specific questions–we are always happy to help!
Any reputable retailer should make independent third party lab Certificate Of Analysis (COA's) avaliable. The COA will typically show a percentage breakdown of phytocannabinoids and if there are pesticides, harmful solvents or mold present. This allows you to really know what makes up the product. If you can't find the COA make sure the hemp is organically grown in the USA. Our COA can be found here.
It depends on your organization. They all have different opinions on this and rules often change. It is your responsibility to check with your organization.
All sales are final once the order has been shipped.
Yes! You can absolutely give them both at the same time or switch between the two. The ideal scenario to give both at the same time is if you need a higher dose of CBD in general and don’t want to use a lot of pellets.
The hemp used for each product is 100% grown in the USA. The tincture and pellets are also manufactured in the USA.
For use due to chronic issues, daily use is best! You can give it once or twice a day. For situational issues such as anxiety try to give it at least an hour before, but it can also be given in the moment as well. If you’re already giving it daily, but an anxiety provoking situation occurs, you can increase the dose as needed–typically start by doubling the dose but you can go up from there if you need. If you’ve been giving a daily dose and an injury occurs you can increase as needed while the injury heals and then return to the daily dose. If you’re giving it to help with an acute injury you do not need to worry about suddenly stopping, there is no need to taper them off it.
